How many times do I have to hit the final boss to kill it in Aero Fighters 2?

Ah Aero Fighters 2. A classic title. For those unfamiliar with the side scroller it first made its debut in the arcades and eventually arrived on the Neo Geo.
The final stage you're talking about Nomad is in space, the final frontier, Appropriate isn't it.
Sadly it's too hard to count how many times you have to hit the final boss but it's definitely in the double figures. Up around 30. Obviously you can't spray bullets like a fire hose because you're going to be on the defensive for most of this battle. Lose your health and you're back at the beginning of the level, as I'm sure you're aware otherwise I wouldn't be telling you this.
