Bioshocked

Dr Game,
Have you heard anything about Bioshock 2?
- Shane, via email
Bioshock was considered by many the game of the year in 2007 - I would definitely put it up there but for me the game was a little too easy.
The Rejuvenation Chamber where you respawned after every death would put you straight back into the action without reversing all the work you had done. For example - when you went head to head with a Big Daddy you could basically have no defence and just go Rambo on his ass, then die, then respawn and repeat to finish him off because he doesn't heal.
But what the game did so well was its atmosphere. The combination of creepy 50's style music with the lighting and the water was just brilliant. You had never seen anything like it before and would probably see anything like it again.
Until Bioshock 2 - which is set to grace us with its presence some time in the next 12 months.
New art has appeared on the cover of next month's Game Informer featuring the Big Sister - which I'm guessing is the new protector. The subtitle mentions returning to Rapture which is interesting considering the ending of the first game. It will be interesting to see the time period and the lead character. So many questions but it's definitely a game to look forward to.

Gamer Verdict
I wouldn't be surprised if you get to play a existing survivor in Rapture that hasn't gone crazy this time. It would be a good concept to flesh out the intriguing backstory to the first game.
