Do we need another Metal Gear?

What do you think Hideo Kojima’s new game will be?

Judging by the latest images from the countdown – it looks Kojima is developing a new game based on in the Metal Gear Universe.
So it begs the question – do we need another Metal Gear game?
Now I am one of the biggest fans of Metal Gear. You’ve all seen me mention that Metal Gear Solid 4 that is one of my favourite games of all time. But the whole point of Metal Gear Solid 4 was to wrap up the story. Everything was supposed to be wrapped up nicely.
So why do people want another one? Sure there are plenty of stories Hideo could come up with that would not unbalance the already sound mythology. For one he could focus on Raiden, who’s image has appeared already in the countdown, and his journey forward. But the last time Hideo did a game where Raiden was the star he was booed like a villain in a 1950’s film. There’s also Big Boss, the other image that has appeared in the countdown, who would have plenty of war stories under his belt. The current rumour is that the story will star Big Boss and will be set some time during the Vietnam war.
I’m sure I’ll still buy it. I always do. I just hope that Solid Snake doesn’t become the Indiana Jones of the games industry.
