Sony and Nintendo stepped up to the plate at E3 today and they didn’t disappoint – here are today’s highlights from E3 Day 2
PlayStation Motion Controller coming 2010
Sony are brining a motion controller that will work with the PS Eye and has promised to deliver “troe one-to-one tracking”. Reports from the conference say that it does look impressive. I probably won’t pick one up but it is good for anyone who has a PS3 but not a Wii – this way those guys don’t miss out on a bit of motion controlling fun.
ModNation Racers announced
Similar to LittleBigPlanet but with cars, karts and other racing materials. Looks like a lot of fun but after the disappointment of LittleBigPlanet’s performance I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t a huge seller.
God of War III coming March 2010
Disapointing that it’s not coming this year but we won’t have to wait much longer after Christmas for Kratos. Great news and from reports the playthrough looked amazing.
Project Trico is now The Last Guardian
I wasn’t a fan of Ico or Shadow of the Colossus but if you were then check out the video that was leaked originally because it turned out to be real. No word on when this is coming.
Final Fantasy XIV Online 2010
A huge win for Sony – Final Fantasy fans will be able to go online with the latest Final Fantasy and like it’s predecessors this looks amazing. Can’t wait till 2010? Final Fantasy VII will be on PS Store this week. Relive the memory.
We only got treated to a logo but it’s from Rockstar – enough said.
Assassin’s Creed II unlockables for the PS3 linked to PSP
Another pretty big win for Sony. If you want the complete experience of Assassin’s Creed II you’re going to need a PS3 and PSP. This will allow you unlockable weapons and Da Vinci’s flying machine.
Gran Turismo PSP October 1
Launching with PSP Go!, this is a great killer app to launch along side the new system which a lot of people in the press conference are complaining about the price of $US250. Will include online multiplayer up to 4 players.
Resident Evil Portable for PSP announced
An entire new game built from the found up for the PSP. No other details but looks promising.
Perfect Dark confirmed for XBLA
Ok not Sony news but was mentioned during the conference via Major Nelson – look for this to be available in the winter.
PSP Go dated
October 1 you can get your hands a PSP Go! for $US250. No other details about the system were mentioned at the press conference but as soon as it is then I’ll post a story on it.
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker for PSP
Kojima described this as a true sequel and not some side story (a la Lightning Bolt Action). It will star Big Boss and be set 10 years after Snake Eater. Expect to sneak through Costa Rica as you discover the back story of Outer Heaven. Look for it in 2010.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Bros for Wii
You wanted it Nintendo fans and now you’ve got it. Mario Galaxy is expected to drop in 2010 while we don’t have a release for the New Super Mario Bros, which will be a 2D platformer similar to the DS version.
Team Ninja bringing a new Metroid – titled M
A third person Metroid game from Team Ninja? Yes please. Samus will even speak. This is one to keep your eye on.
New Kingdom Hearts for DS
It’s got a lot of numbers in the title. I don’t know what they mean and I’ll guarantee you won’t either after you finish the game.
Warioware DIY for DSi
A cool new game for the DSi – you create the minigames and can share them with others. It’s one of my favourite series and one worth picking up – not sure when yet.
