Dr Game's PSA - Call of Duty World at War maps LIVE!

March 19th 2009 21:25

Expect to see a lot of people playing Call of Duty World at War this weekend. Three new maps have gone up as well as an update for the Zombie Nazi mode.

Prepare to cough up 800 MS Points or $9.99 if you're a PS3 owner.

I guess the question you're asking is if it is worth it?

Well if Call of Duty World at War is in your system quite a lot then it would make sense. The three new maps bring more variety to the game and makes the online multiplayer feel fresh. Because let's face it - it seemed like there was only seven or eight maps and if you play for three hours you can end up playing one of these maps around 15 times. It's ridiculous. Adding these three maps plus the free Makin day map should make a difference... at least until Modern Warfare 2 graces us with its presence.

I would like to see one day that these games offer free map packs because I'm sure Activision has made bank with Call of Duty World at War. It sold in the millions and I'm assuming it wouldn't have cost a hell of a lot to make because the engine is from Infinity Ward and was built up from that. They also want people to buy more copies of these games and I think more people would be motivated to buy it if they knew that they would free downloadable content available to them. Valve seem happy to do it for Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress and I commend those guys for supporting their titles with free content. I'm sure it will pump up sales when the new Left 4 Dead content goes on sale.

I'm going off on a rant so I'll wrap this up - the map pack is worth getting if you play World at War regularly, if not then don't bother.
