Dr Game's PSA - Resident Evil 5 this week
March 9th 2009 00:05
This week is the week we've been waiting for for a while.
The reviews have started to roll in and they're mostly good so far. They're not as good as Resident Evil 4 but that's to be expected as RE4 was a complete reboot of the series. RE5 doesn't reinvent anything but offers gorgeous graphics, a new location and co-op play.
The controls have been the biggest criticisms of RE5 with many calling them dated. As one reviewer said - a lot has changed in four years since RE4's release. We've seen games like Gears of War, Uncharted and GTA IV that have had solid control schemes and great shooting mechanics.
But it's the story that will keep you hooked in RE5. Most reviews have said the story is great and delves more in to the history of the viruses that have plagued the series. So fans who have been following the series forever will get satisfaction here.
No one seems to be satisfied with the co-op. Well, the single player side anyway. It doesn't look the AI is very good especially considering your female counterpart will only use her pistol on bosses until she runs out of bullets and she will continue to shoot while you try to nail an uppercut on an enemy.
But I'm sure it will sell. I know I'm buying mine on the PS3. I guess we'll wait and see if people will keep it or if it will flood the second-hand bin.
This has been a Dr Game Public Service Announcement - because Dr Game cares about what you play.
