Dr Game's Second Opinion - You Don't Know Jack
October 16th 2008 23:02
For those of you who have missed out on You Don't Know Jack... for shame.
But seriously this trivia game is not only one of the best time wasters on the net, it's one of the most entertaining games you'll ever play.
Each of the 100 episodes contains seven questions that require you to be knowledgeable in useless trivia. The questions are far from your dry Trivial Pursuit style questions. For example, instead of asking "What mythological beast is half man" they ask "If they were to accurately cast for the show Two and a Half Men, what would be the appropriate choice?" with the options being Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer and then four different mythological creatures. Correct answers score cash points and incorrect answers leave you ridiculed.
After a few rounds the pace changes and you'll enter a minigame called Dis or Dat. Here you're given two, sometimes three, categories. Something will appear on screen that fits into one of these categories and you have only a few seconds to decide where it fits. One of my favourite Dis or Dat topics was on Dennis Hopper. Some of his films would appear and your choices were if he played a sane person or a psycho and if you've ever watched a Dennis Hopper film you'll know there was only one answer for every question.
The final round is known as The Jack Attack. This game involves a cryptic clue such as "You're an Animal". Then a phrase, name or something or rather will float towards the screen with answers appearing around it for you to match it with. For the clue mentioned above, one of the names floating towards me was Robert Goldwaith and various animals appeared around it. I waited until "Bobcat" appeared and scored an easy imaginary $2000. Simple right?
DIAGNOSIS
Learning is hardly ever fun and while You Don't Know Jack is not an educational tool it will provide you with a lot of useless knowledge that's great for dinner parties or when you're out with your best mate at the pub. It's fun, it's hillarious and it's free. Jump over to www.youdontknowjack.com and kill some time while the boss isn't looking.
