DS games 4 the kids

Dr Game,
I want to buy a DS for my son but not sure what game to get with it.

If it's the Wii it's the DS that's making Nintendo richer. Happy to help Sean.
You can't go wrong with Mario Kart for the DS. It's easy to play and a hell of a lot of fun. Even if your kid hasn't played a Mario Kart game they'll be able to pick this up and get right into the action. It will probably remind you of the N64 days... if you had an N64.
Animal Crossing might also suit your kids if they love exploring an open world. This is a cult classic and critic rave on about it. This has more substance than the Wii game they're advertising and has a lot more charm too.
If your kid loves puzzles then Professor Layton is also worth a look. It's received multiple Best Handheld Game awards and is superbly animated. They'll think they're playing a cartoon it's that good.
Finally I would suggest Nintendogs. It's an oldie but a goodie. It's like a Tamagotchi without the dying part. Sure the dog will get parched and dirty if you don't play with it regularly but you won't have Animal Control knocking on the door so it's all good.
I hope that helps Sean, have a good Christmas.
