TNA vs WWE

Dr Game,
I'm a huge wrestling fan. I love both WWE and TNA but I'm not sure what game to pick up. Raw vs SmackDown 09 is out but TNA Impact is cheap now so I'm thinking about getting that. What do you think?

I was a huge wrestling fan George. I actually have Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme song as my ringtone. I'm huge fans of Christian, Sting and Chris Jericho but I don't think wrestling is as great as it once was. I've sort of gone off it ever since Chris Benoit... well you know. He was one of my favourites too.
Anyway, much like the businesses, Raw vs SmackDown 09 is by far the better product. There is so much more depth in the controls, a lot more individuality between the wrestlers, so many more matches and locations to lay the smack down and the animations are far more superior.
TNA's main problem was that it was developed by Midway. I have nothing against the company but they can not make wrestling games. Legends of Wrestling was a sham. It insulted me as a wrestling fan. They've practically used the same engine to create the TNA game but they didn't seem to read all the bad reviews those games got. Wrestlers walk around like they're skating on ice and the transition between animations looks like a glitch.
Raw vs SmackDown 09 is not a perfect either. I've had the pleasure of meeting the guys at Yukes in Japan. They're a hard working bunch but they need to scrap the old engine and build something new. It needs a whole new look. New presentation, new moves and camera angles. The WWE is a spectacle but in a videogame it looks like a poor mans boxing game.
But it's still better than TNA Impact.
