Wii want one!

Dr Game,
We're an older couple and are thinking about getting a Wii because we like the interaction of it and think we would enjoy it. We've played our son's Wii Sports and like the look of Wii Fit. Plus with the way the economy is we think it would be the good time to pick up one up cheap.
Well Cath, it's good that you're getting into gaming and I think you and your husband would enjoy the Wii.
The best thing is that at a minimum you guys would only have to pick up a console and Wii Play so you have two games and two controllers. Wii Sports will keep you entertained enough with Tennis, Bowling, Baseball and even boxing if you want to get some aggression out if your husband is getting on your nerves or vice versa.
Wii Play is ok. It's not great but again, it will keep you entertained with games like Pool and Target Shooting type games.
As for Wii Fit, it's great you want to keep active and Wii Fit is great in setting up fitness programs and making it fun to exercise.
If you do get bored of the titles you've got no shortage of games to keep you entertained that fall under the same category of Wii Sports. You can even pick up a light gun and play some shooting games like House of the Dead. If you have friends around it might even be worth picking up Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour so you and your friends can rock out with some wine, cheese and good tunes.
Regular readers know I have shot down the Wii on a couple of occasions but that's because for the majority of gamers, real gamers, it does not satisfy their needs like the 360 or PS3 would. But for anyone looking to play simple games that everyone can play or only use it for entertaining guests then the Wii is definitely the console to own.
